Do you volunteer? Volunteering is a great activity year round, but it’s always nice to give back during the holiday season. There are many volunteer opportunities in our communities, and we’ve listed a few for you:
Do you enjoy spending time with children? Consider volunteering for Big Brothers Big Sisters or the Boys and Girls Club. Both programs allow you to work with children and be a role model for kids who might need some guidance in their lives. I’ve volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters in the past and it is a very rewarding experience and surprisingly a great way to relieve some stress!
The holiday season means that the Salvation Army’s Red Kettles will once again be outside of stores. You can sign up to be a bell ringer; the shifts are two hours long and you can bring friends. You can go online to sign up, which is a simple process, and then you are free to pick as many shifts as you please! Get a group of friends together to spread holiday cheer!
Need more volunteer ideas? Log on to the United Way’s Web site or call 211 to find out more about volunteering in your area.
Make a commitment to volunteer this holiday season and it could turn in to a fun activity you enjoy all year long!
