According to the Stevens Point Journal, although Brad Anderson enjoyed working as an insurance agent at Sentry Insurance, his interest in another area made him consider a change in profession. “I always had an eye for design, and people have asked me to help put their houses together,” Anderson said.
This year, Anderson took that interest to the next level when he took over ownership of Designers 2 from Marsha Sowle and Gayle Geiger, who started the business in 1983. The business is located at 3233 Business Park Drive in the Portage County Business Park and has been in there for four years.
“I’ve traded in the Wall Street Journal for Architectural Design,” Anderson said. “We’ve had a really good spring and summer, and we’re looking to have the best Christmas season ever.” Anderson said his insurance career has helped him with different aspects of owning Designers 2, such as budgeting and selling to customers.
The business deals with all aspects of design, from paint to furniture to home decor to transforming an entire room. “It’s about seeing how a room is going to be used and understanding someone’s taste, and I think we are good at that,” Anderson said.
The business also plans to offer an exclusive new furniture line called “Inspired.” “We’re going to have hundreds of fabric options and dozens of styles, from contemporary to transitional to traditional,” Anderson said. “There will be something for everyone.”
