Tips for Movers

Moving across the country or even down the block can be a very stressful situation.  You have to find time to pack, clean, and organize your belongings that you’ve accumulated throughout your life so they fit into a moving truck, only to unpack them all at your new home.

Packing and unpacking are only half the battle of moving.  There are other issues that need to be taken care of before, during, and after the moving process.  First of all, you need to determine the correct size moving truck you need for your belongings.  The standard size 14-foot moving truck will move one to two bedrooms, but it is always safer to get a bigger truck if you are unsure.  However, don’t choose a larger truck if you are inexperienced or wary of driving it.  Ask your rental company if you can practice driving the truck before you actually move.

Secondly, get professional movers if necessary.  If you are living on your own, there is no way that you will safely be able to move your large belongings on your own.  Hire professional movers and kick back while the work is done for you.

Throughout your moving process, don’t forget to notify companies of your address change.  You should also contact your Wisconsin insurance agency to not only inform them of your address change, but also to re-quote your homeowners and other insurance policies.  A new home will certainly require a re-quote of your Wisconsin homeowners insurance, so don’t forget to contact us if you are moving!

Although moving may seem like a huge hassle, it will all be worth it in the end when you are happily living in your new home.
