This week Thursday through Saturday will be the Special Olympics State Summer Games. Whether competing, volunteering, coaching, or spectating this week is a great joy to be a part of. I feel honored to live in Stevens Point and be able to see this each summer.
If you for a schedule of days they need help or volunteers. You can also get involved and volunteer as a coach for one of the teams, which can be anything from alpine skiing to bocce. It can be a lot of fun and very rewarding.
Otherwise you can still stop by this week and you are guaranteed a good time. There will be aquatics, athletics (track and field), soccer, and powerlifting. The energy is contagious and it is hard to not want to be there all weekend. There is food available for sale there and the proceeds go back to the Special Olympics programs. So help support by also buying food or donating if you are unable to attend.
This is a positive program that comes to our community every summer and gives us a moment to really think about life. It is special in many ways and can really make you see what is really important in life. Hope to see you there!
