Prepare for Wisconsin Road Work with a Wisconsin Auto Insurance Policy

Summer in Wisconsin means boating, baseball, barbecues, and more.  Of course there is always the hassle of getting to these events, especially since Wisconsin summers bring road construction.  Reviewing construction guidelines can reduce your risk of an avoidable accident and save you time that you would need to file a Wisconsin auto insurance claim.

Be aware of work zones by looking for warning signs, barrels, flashing lights, cones, workers, and so on.  Slow down when approaching a work zone and make sure you give yourself plenty of room between vehicles in front of and behind you in case you have to stop suddenly.  Eliminate all distractions (that you probably shouldn’t be doing anyway) such as eating, using a cell phone, or putting on makeup.

Plan ahead to avoid being late for events.  Research if there is any construction on your route by visiting the DOT’s Web site.  Don’t make up for lost time if you are running late–traffic violations in work zones will cost you double the amount they normally would.

Speeding or driving recklessly through work zones can cost you more than money.  Wisconsin has around 2,000 crashes in work zones each year, which can result in injury or death.  Driving safely may take more of your time, but will save you money and hassles in the long run.

Make sure to enjoy your summer, but do so responsibly.  If you are involved in an accident, contact us as soon as possible so we can work on your Wisconsin auto insurance claim.  Stay safe and have fun!
