Insurance Discounts

Thanksgiving is over and holiday season will now get into full swing (even though I’ve seen holiday commercials since mid-October).  Despite my attempts to get my Christmas shopping done in a timely and cost-efficient manner each year, I always find myself spending more money than I should on gifts.  This time of year gets pretty expensive, so I’m always searching for ways that I can cut costs and save money.  Little did I know that one way I can cut costs is by looking over my insurance policies.

I’m not saying that I’m going to stop paying or cancel my insurance policies, because that would not be wise at all.  Instead, I looked into discounts that I could receive from insurance companies.

  • Many companies offer a good student discount.  If you are in college or you have children in school, ask your Wisconsin insurance agent if your insurance company offers a good student discount.  You will have to provide a copy of the student’s grades for the company, but that’s a pretty easy task to accomplish in order to receive a discount on your insurance!
  • Are you a volunteer firefighter?  Some companies offer a discount for volunteer firefighters.  Contact your insurance agent to find out which companies offer a discount and to see if you are eligible to receive it.
  • Most companies offer a discount if you have more than one policy with them, such as home and auto.  Writing all your policies with one company will also save you the hassle of remembering which policies are through which companies; all your policies will be with the same company!
  • Paying your policy in full can also provide a discount.  Many companies add on a service charge for payment installments, such as monthly payments.  You can avoid these fees by paying your full premium in one lump sum.

There are some discounts that are unique to certain companies.  Ask your insurance agent to find out more about any discounts you may be qualified for.  Soon you could be saving enough money to get everyone on your list the perfect gift!
