Insurance Agency vs. Insurance Company

Our agents are here to help you understand everything about your insurance policies so please, ask away!  One insurance question you may have is:

“What’s the difference between an insurance agency and an insurance company?”

An insurance agency is a business made up of insurance agents who act as intermediaries between the insured (you) and the insurance company.  Your insurance agent is your go-to resource for any question you may have on your policies.  You can think of them as a representative for both you and the insurance company.  An independent insurance agency, such as Community Insurance, represents a variety of companies and will work to find you the best policy out of those companies.

On the other hand, an insurance company is a company that offers policies to the public and is the entity that actually insures you.  Insurance companies can specialize in one type of insurance, such as Hagerty, a company that insures classic cars.  Other insurance companies offer a range of policies, such as West Bend Mutual, which offers auto and home insurance policies.

If you need any more clarification between and agency and a company, or if you have any other insurance questions, contact your Wisconsin insurance agent today!
