Ideas for Summer Fun

Many schools across the state had their last day of school yesterday or will have it today.  The last day of school means summer is finally here for grade school, middle school, and high school students, all of whom can’t wait to go out and enjoy their newfound freedom.  But after about a week of all this free time, students fall into a slump of boredom.  Keep your kids busy this summer with these ideas!

  • Take a day off work to enjoy a family fun day.  Go see a movie, visit a waterpark, or travel to watch your favorite baseball team play.  Summer is a perfect time to catch up with family, so don’t let it slip by.
  • Host a pool party.  As we all know, Wisconsin summers are hot and humid, and there is no better way to cool off than by jumping in a pool.  When planning your party, make sure to check that your pool is listed on your Wisconsin home insurance policy.  If you don’t have a pool, set up a sprinkler or have a water balloon fight.
  • Wisconsin summers also mean that there will be the occasional rainy or stormy day.  Use these days to lounge in your pajamas all day and watch movies, read books, play board games, and other indoor activities.
  • Volunteer at a local food bank, animal shelter, nursing home, or other location.  Teach your kids that giving back to the community is important and volunteering is an easy and fun way to do so.  Have your kids invite their friends to volunteer once or twice a month.
