Heat Wave Leads to Buckled Roads

Extreme heat can not only be dangerous for individuals, but it can also lead to hazardous road conditions.  The heat wave currently being experienced in Wisconsin is causing roadways to buckle, leading to potholes, crumbling roads, and dangerous situations on your commute.

Hot conditions causes pavement to expand, push together, and buckle.  Many of the roads in Central Wisconsin are older and more likely to buckle due to the rigidity of the old concrete.   Road crews work to fill in gaps and potholes that result from the buckling, but drivers may encounter damaged roads that are yet to be repaired.

Always be aware of roadway conditions when you are driving, and slow down if you notice buckling in the road.  Protect your vehicle with a Wisconsin auto insurance policy in case you should come across damaged roadways.  Driving on buckled roads can be hazardous for your vehicle and for you, so making sure you are protected with a reliable auto insurance policy is an intelligent decision.

Contact the Wisconsin DOT if you see dangerous road conditions.  Buckled roads can lead to slowed traffic; prepare for slower road conditions by leaving earlier than normal and driving at a safe speed.

Stay safe and cool and have a great weekend!
