Cleaning Made Easier with a Product from your Pantry

Who knew that a product that costs less than a dollar could have so many uses?  From whiter teeth to fresher sinks, baking soda can be used in many areas around your home.

  • Brighten your smile by making a paste with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.  After brushing with your regular toothpaste, brush with the baking soda mixture once a week and in no time your smile will be pearly white.
  • De-grease your oven by sprinkling baking soda on the bottom of your oven then dampen the baking soda with a tad of water.  Let the mixture sit overnight then clean it out (along with all the grease and grime) with a sponge or rag.
  • In fact, baking soda can be used to clean grease from other surfaces as well.  Sprinkle baking soda on oil stains in your garage and scrub with a wet brush.  Remove grease stains from clothing by either adding baking soda to the load of wash or pre-treating the grease stain with a baking soda and water paste.
  • Baking soda can be used to remove odors in anything from carpets (sprinkle baking soda on carpet, let sit for fifteen minutes, vacuum) to sinks (pour baking soda down the drain, let sit for fifteen minutes, flush with boiling water).  More odor-fighting uses of baking soda can be found here.

Using baking soda in place of chemicals will make your home more environmentally friendly and save you money.  Another way you can save money is by creating a customized Wisconsin home insurance policy with one of our agents.  Contact us to learn more!
