The gates for the Portage County Fair open at 5:00 p.m. tonight in Amherst, where friends and family will gather to enjoy food, fun, and sun. As of now, the forecast for this weekend looks a little cooler than the past few weekends (although temperatures will still be in the upper 80s) with plenty of sun. In other words, it appears as though this will be a great weekend to head out to the fair.
Tonight is wristband night at the fair, which is always a big hit with kids and those who are kids at heart. For only $17, you can get a wristband which will allow you to ride the carnival rides from 6:00 until 10:00 p.m.
If you miss opening night tonight, don’t fret. The fair goes through Sunday and hosts many other activities that you and your family can enjoy. There are musical acts every night and a parade on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. You can also test your vocal skills at the karaoke contest at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, with cash prizes for the top singers!
